3 DAY CHESTER & LIVERPOOL TERRACOTA WARRIORS EXHIBITION

Staying at The Queen 4* Hallmark Hotel Chester. Walk through the colonnaded entrance of our magnificent brick and stucco Italianate hotel and you’re following a trail blazed by some extraordinary guests. Since opening in 1860 to serve first-class rail passengers, we’ve entertained the likes of Charles Dickens, Cecil Rhodes and Lillie Langtry. We’re a hotel of many firsts. We’re the original railway hotel, the first of our kind built to service the many rail travellers to the city. With no other blueprints upon which to base the hotels’ design, our architecture was unique, many say the first skyscraper of its time and students from across the world still visit just to marvel at our structure and design. Proud recipient of awards and acclaim for our fine dining, business tourism and green credentials. But the foundation of our business at the Hallmark Hotel The Queen, Chester is to give you a fabulous night’s sleep. Whether you’re here for the city’s excellent shopping, Roman history or on business, we’re certain we have a room that suits your needs.

Terracotta Warriors Exhibition, Taking place in 2018, this exhibition will be the first time in more than 10 years that these spectacular warriors from the tomb of China’s First Emperor, Qin Shihuangdi, have been brought to the UK. Visitors to World Museum will be given a glimpse into the extraordinary story of Qin Shihuangdi, the First Emperor of China. His vast burial site and tomb complex was discovered near Xi’an in North West China in 1974, and the story of the tomb’s Terracotta Warriors will be displayed alongside important artefacts and research relating to the formative years of the Chinese nation. This exhibition will be unprecedented in the UK, spanning almost 1,000 years of China’s history. It is set to include a number of objects that have never been on show in this country before including material from museums and institutes from across Shaanxi Province, excavated over the last 40 years from the Imperial Mausoleum and selected tombs. World Museum’s Terracotta Warriors exhibition will be a major part of Liverpool’s 2018 celebrations, marking 10 years since the city held the title of European Capital of Culture 2008.
