Staying at Membly Hall Hotel Situated in one of the most picturesque regions of Cornwall, the Membly Hall Hotel occupies a sea front position affording splendid views of Falmouth Bay and the majestic Cornish coastline, from the Lizard to St. Anthony Lighthouse, divided only by the historic Pendennis Castle which dominates the entrance to Falmouth Harbour. The restaurant overlooks the sea, offers locally sourced food. The hotel consists of 36 rooms all with en-suite and most take advantage of the stunning sea views. · ONE DAY EXCURSION: To Great Dixter House & Gardens which was the family home of gardener and gardening writer Christopher Lloyd. One of the pleasant features about the gardens is that they lie all around the house. Make a circuit of the gardens and you have made a circuit of the house exterior. Each has good views of the other. Great Dixter is made up of three houses, one built here in the mid-15th century with slightly later additions, the second a yeoman’s house from Benenden, across the border in Kent, built in the early 16th century and moved here in 1910, and the third combines the two with additional accommodation, completed in 1912. A guide is on hand in each room to explain the house’s history and answer questions (Entrance Included). Calling at Battle for free time, named after the most famous conflict on English soil, this compact market town grew up alongside the battleground, tranquil medieval abbey and surrounding ancient woodlands — largely unchanged to this day.

· ONE DAY EXCURSION: We head down the coast and visit the ‘Ancient Town’ of Rye.  You’ll have free time to explore the quirky streets and this historic town. Calling at Hastings so you can sample the ‘Sister’ resort to St. Leonard’s.

· ONE DAY EXCURSION: Today we set off for the pretty town of Westport for a visit to Westport House & Gardens where you can enjoy a 30 minute guided tour of spectacular Westport House which is undoubtedly one of Ireland’s best loved heritage attractions – and is rightly called the most beautiful house in Ireland. From the moment you step into the Front Hall with its breath-taking barrel vaulted ceiling and soft, rose red hues, the magnitude of the home’s historical and architectural significance becomes clear. Waterford cut glass chandeliers, and an exquisite hand painted 19th century ceiling featuring soft, wispy clouds in a periwinkle blue sky are just some of the lavish interiors on display. The vast expanse of Clew Bay, the Atlantic Ocean and Ireland’s holy mountain Croagh Patrick in the distance provide an idyllic backdrop to the Estate’s tumbling waterfalls, terraces, promenades and lofty ancient oaks. · ONE DAY EXCURSION: Enjoy a day in lively Galway the city chosen for European Capital of Culture in 2020. Enjoy a 2 hour guided walking tour taking in the city’s sights and exploring its fascinating history. In the afternoon we board the Corrib Princess for a 90 minute cruise on tranquil Loch Corrib. Sit back and admire the natural beauty that surrounds you and you can enjoy a spirited on board Irish Dancing demonstration.

· ONE DAY EXCURSION: A short journey from Roscommon is Strokestown Park & the Irish National Famine Museum, A guided tour of the Georgian Palladian Mansion which has been preserved with its original furnishings and fabrics. In the stable yard you will find the Famine Museum enjoy the gardens at your leisure. Then heading back to Roscommon for free time to take in the attractions.

· ONE DAY EXCURSION: Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, provides an excellent opportunity to step back in time and enjoy a train ride through the heart of Bronte country. The railway was originally built to serve the local mill trade, and is only about 4.5 miles long. Famous for the 1970s version of the film The Railway Children. Bradford Industrial Museum, has permanent displays of textile machinery, steam power, engineering, printing machinery and motor vehicles, along with an exciting exhibitions programme. You can enjoy the splendour of Moorside House where the Mill Manager lived, or visit the Mill-workers’ terraced houses dressed to reflect three different time periods.

· ENROUTE: Skipton, as the gateway to the magnificent Yorkshire Dales, people travel the length and breadth of the country to visit this charming market town. With its famous 900 year old castle, romantic ruined priory and historic cobbled High Street, Skipton is endlessly rich both in history and outstanding natural beauty.

There’s a lot of history attached to this lovely Victorian stately home in the Midlands. Once home to Stanley Baldwin, Prime Minister three times between 1923–1927, it’s welcomed many dignitaries over the years. After leaving Haverfordwest travel along the coast road, well known locally for its “Seventeen Hills in Sixteen Miles”, through Newgale Pebble Beach to the quaint little village of Solva, and on to St. Davids where ample time is allowed to view the Cathedral, the largest in Wales and built on a lovely stretch of coastline. In the 6th Century St. David founded a Monastic Order and built a church in the valley of the River Alun, a church that later became his Cathedral and his shrine. Pilgrims from all over the world came to visit, also Kings like William the Conqueror, Henry II and Edward I.

To Laugharne, home of Dylan Thomas, the poet and see the boat house where he did most of his work, a little further along the coast to Pendine, with its 7 miles of golden sands, where both J.G.
